The Grand Alcazar is a guest house, which is established in a beautiful Riad located in the Batha district in the heart of the medina of Fez, less than 1.5 km from the royal palace. Only 100 m from the public car park, the Riad is very easily accessible by car, on foot or by public transport, and can accommodate people with reduced mobility.

Since the launch of our extension after the COVID 19 crisis, Le Grand Alcazar is now established in two magnificent traditional houses that belonged to important families of the Fassi nobility.

 

The first house was built in 1944, then renovated in 2006 and 2018. It previously belonged to the late Mr. Laghzaoui, former director of the DGSN and former minister (4 ministries), The second house was built in 1943 and renovated in 2022. It belonged to the late Mr. Idrissi, a former doctor and activist for the independence of Morocco. They made them two architectural jewels, very rich in traditional Fassis ornaments and decorations (Zellige, carved plaster, hand-carved and painted wood, wrought iron, etc.).

 

Both houses have been completely restored in accordance with the rules of traditional Fez architectural art by local craftsmen, preserving all their authenticity and equipping them with the necessary technologies and equipment to make your stay as memorable, comfortable and exceptional as possible.

 

In total, the Riad has 14 suites and rooms: 1 royal suite, 9 premium suites, 1 junior suite, 1 deluxe double room, and 2 small single rooms, all non-smoking. The suites can accommodate up to 4 people. Each of them has been decorated in a particular, traditional and authentic style, with very high quality bedding and exceptionally beautiful handcrafted furniture. Free WiFi is available throughout the property. Featuring a private bathroom with a bathtub, bidet and hairdryer, all rooms at the Grand Alcazar have a flat-screen TV and air conditioning/heating. All suites have a seating area, a dressing room, high-end bedding, and offer exceptional comfort.

 

The Grand Alcazar is renowned for its authentic traditional Moroccan homemade cuisine and offers a choice of gourmet local specialties prepared by our chef with over 30 years of experience.

 

We have also set up a beautiful terrace on the roof of the Riad that extends over the two houses, with a very beautiful height, allowing you to offer a breathtaking 360-degree view of the entire Medina of Fez.

 

Just 5 minutes from Bab Boujloud (Blue Gate), the Grand Alcazar enjoys a prime location, ideal for undertaking a beautiful visit to the medina. The establishment is 200 meters from the Bouanania Medersa and 200 meters from Batha Square. The new city is a 5-minute drive away, and Fez-Saïs Airport is 15 km away.
